How to make leave prorated on date of joining?

Modified on Tue, 28 Mar, 2023 at 7:01 PM

Prorating leave means that employees are only entitled to a proportionate amount of leave based on the number of days they have worked in the current leave year. This ensures that new employees are not unfairly advantaged or disadvantaged in comparison to existing employees who have worked for the organization for a longer period.

To configure the settings for prorating leaves on the date of joining, navigate to Time Attend (1), then go to Leave (2), and under Leave Plans (3) you will see all the leave plans configured for your organization.

Select the relevant leave plan and find the Leave Type you want to make prorated. Click on the three dots next to View and click Settings.

This will open up a new window where in the Accrual & Accumulation section, you have to enable the 'For new hires, leave are prorated based on their joining date' option.

You can also choose if the proration is based on the exact date of the joining, or you can define multiple date ranges of joining, for each of which a set number of leave will be allocated to the employee.

After making all the configurations, click on Save & Continue and then you can exit the window.

For 'How are leave allocated to employees?', if you select 'Accrued Periodically', then the proration will we enabled by default.
