Introduction
Recruiting can be a time-sensitive process, but that's not the only consideration, to build a great recruitment team, it's essential to go the extra mile and tag each candidate. This way, you can gather valuable information about each one and later find them with ease. Candidate tags are a valuable feature that can greatly streamline and improve your candidate management process. By setting up an effective tag management system, tagging specific candidates, and utilising tags for filtering and analysis, you can make more informed hiring decisions and optimise your recruitment effort.
What are Candidate Tags?
Candidate tags are customisable labels that you can assign to candidates in your system. You can use them to mark specific skills, experience, or other traits that a candidate possesses. This makes it easier to organise and filter your candidate pool to find the best fit for each position.
Why Use Candidate Tags?
Tagging candidates provides you with more data to work with, more flexibility, and improved reporting, all of which help you make better hiring decisions.
- Enhanced Organization: Tags allow for a structured approach to candidate management, making it easier to locate and retrieve relevant information.
- Efficient Filtering: Tags facilitate quick filtering and segmentation of candidates based on specific attributes, saving time and effort.
- Improved Collaboration: Tags provide a common language for team members to communicate and share insights about candidates.
- Data-Driven Decisions: Analysing candidate data based on tags enables informed decision-making and strategic planning.
- Improve your talent management strategies: By using candidate tags to track specific skills, experience, or other traits, you can identify gaps in your talent pool and develop strategies to address them. For example, if you notice that you have a shortage of candidates with a certain skill, you can focus your recruiting efforts on finding candidates who possess that skill.
Using candidate tags
Creating and Managing Candidate Tags
Admins can create and manage candidate tags from the Settings (1) >> Candidate Tags (2) page. From here, admins can add, edit, and delete any tags. If a tag assigned to a candidate is deleted, it will also be removed from the candidate's profile. In the admin screen, tags are grouped alphabetically, and users can search for tags using a search bar.
To add a new candidate tag, click on the +Add Tag button on the page. Enter the tag you want to add in the textbox and then click save to add the tag.
Assign Tags to Candidates
While adding candidates individually or in bulk, recruiters, hiring managers, and other team members can add tags to the candidates. Additionally, when submitting feedback or writing notes, users can add tags that will become part of the candidate profile. Please note that users can only remove tags from a candidate's profile but cannot delete them from the system.
Filter and Search Candidates
Use the tag filter option in job stages, kanban view, talent pool, advanced search, "My Candidates" tab, archived tab, etc. to narrow down candidates based on specific tags, such as skills, qualifications, or preferences. You can also segment the candidate pool into meaningful groups by using tags.
Bulk Assign or Remove Tags
In job stages or kanban view, tags can be assigned or removed in bulk. This helps streamline the recruitment process, making it easier to locate and retrieve relevant information.
Audit Log
An audit log of tags added, removed, or updated is maintained in the candidate's profile under the activity section. This helps keep track of changes made to the candidate's profile and ensures accurate and reliable data.
By default, all users have the ability to add tags to candidates. If you want to disable this privilege, you can remove the "Add Tag" or "Manage Tag" permission for that persona from the "User&Permission" settings.
By utilizing candidate tags effectively, you can experience several benefits, including enhanced organization, efficient filtering, improved collaboration, data-driven decisions, and improved talent management strategies. Follow these steps to use candidate tags and optimize your recruitment process today.
