How to configure settings to penalize for shortage of work hours?

Modified on Wed, 14 Jun, 2023 at 4:09 PM

Setting up rules to penalize employees for not meeting the minimum work hours is crucial. This helps to motivate employees to complete their required hours of work, as there are consequences for falling short. When there are no consequences for not meeting the minimum work hours, employees may not feel as motivated to work efficiently or may take advantage of the flexibility of the tracking policy. Penalizing for a shortage of work hours can help ensure that work is being done effectively and efficiently.

Let's see how you can configure the settings that govern penalization for the shortage of work hours on Keka.

Go to the Time Attend (1) section, navigate to Attendance Tracking (2), open the Tracking Policy (3) tab, and select the relevant policy from the list. Go to the Versions (4) section and click the update icon (5) for the 'Current' tracking policy.

In the new window that opens up, you will be in the Basic Information section where you have to give an effective date from which this version of the tracking policy will take effect. Now, click Save & Continue till you reach the Work Hours section.

In this section, select Yes for 'Do you want to penalize (deduct leave) for shortage of work hours?'

Now You can choose if the penalization happens based on Gross hours or Effective hours. You can also select the Deduction Period (The period for which the work hours are taken into account for calculation) and then define the leave deduction policy accordingly.

If you select the Deduction Period as Day, you will get an additional option to select 'What happens when there is a penalty to be applied for a late coming incident on the same day?' Select the option appropriate to your organization and click Save & Continue and then you can exit this window.
