Can we change the leave calendar year in the Leave Policy?

Modified on Tue, 6 Feb at 3:13 PM

The leave calendar year typically spans 12 months, during which employees accrue leaves that they can use. At the end of this period, leaves can either lapse, be carried forward, or encashed, depending on the organization's policy. Leave calendars usually follow either a January to December or April to March cycle.

When creating a leave policy, you set the leave calendar year, and once it's established, you cannot change it. If you wish to modify the leave calendar year, the recommended approach is to create a new leave policy with the desired calendar year and then assign it to employees. However, it's essential to note that the leave balances will not carry over to the new policy; instead, they will be recalculated based on the new leave calendar year.
