An API access key is a security feature that grants authorized applications access to software application data. The Keka portal provides a unique API access key, client ID, and client secret to enable the integration of Keka with other applications for different modules. Securing the API access key is important to prevent unauthorized access to sensitive data.
To create an API access key, open the Global Settings (1) by clicking on the gear icon next to the organization name. Here, click on Integrations and Automation (2) and then go to the API access (3) section.
Click on Create New Key (4) to bring up the Create API Key window.
Make sure to copy and store the Client ID and Client Secret as they will only be visible once. After the window is closed, they will no longer be displayed, and they are mandatory for accessing the API.
In the Create API Key window, provide the Name, and Expiry date and select the Scope for this key. Do remember to copy the Key and store it in a secure location as it will not be visible again once you close this window.
Then just click Save.
A maximum of five keys can be generated by resetting the API post which no further keys can be generated.
The tech team can now utilize the Key, along with the client ID and secret, to generate Keka data for third-party applications.
